Henning Benndorf has been in the Sea Organization for over 25 years and has worked at Golden Era Productions for 24 of them, starting in the Film Art Department and then moving up to executive positions within the organization. Henning also has worked under David Miscavige for over 20 years. He knew Ron Miscavige well for 20 years, from 1992 until Ron and his wife left in 2012. Based on his first-hand experiences, Henning adamantly refutes Ron Miscavige’s characterization of his son in his book and to the media as “ruthless.” “I got word that my dad was dying. He was not doing well. He had cancer, like a lung cancer. And he thought that he would make it, but he wasn’t going to make it. So, it was in the middle of an event. We were putting together like massive preparations for a huge international event. And I was in the position where I can’t go but I have to. And Mr. David Miscavige came and saw me. He said, ‘Hey, I heard your dad is dying. What can I do for you? Tell you what. I’m going to help you. I’m going to cover you entirely so you can go. I’m going to pay for your airfare. Have somebody go with you. Pay for his airfare. Whatever you need, you have. You have a car when you arrive there.’ There was a car set up. I could drive there. I could handle everything.”
